Did you know the popular glowfish seen in your local pet store is a genetically modified organism? The glowfish are not only fun to look at and are actively used in scientific research giving your students a real purpose to learn with glowfish. Join us in this fun and hands-on interactive workshop to explore how you can use glowfish to bring alive complex concepts in genetics, heredity and biotechnology to excite your students and immerse them in hands-on, inquiry-based investigations. Classroom ready resources including vendor information for these organisms, care and feeding requirements, links to free teaching resources/interactives, and alignments to TEKS across grade levels will be provided.
